Paperworks Studio is a community based organization offering employment and training for people with special needs. Our goal is to build self esteem and confidence in our employees, and to produce beautiful paper that lifts spirits, reassures someone they are loved, and strengthens the bonds of human relationships. “Can we do this with paper?” you ask. We believe it’s possible.

How do they make that paper?
The wooden frame used to make or “draw” paper is called a deckle. The deckle leaves the edges of the paper slightly irregular and wavy, called “deckled edges”, one of the indications that the paper was made by hand. Deckle-edge paper is occasionally mechanically imitated to create the impression of an old-fashioned luxury- at Paperworks Studio our paper making is an art.
